Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç Honored with the “METU Parlar Foundation Honor Award”

Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç, Founding Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) at Özyeğin University, has been honored with the “2024 METU Parlar Foundation Honor Award” by the Middle East Technical University (METU) Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation.

 

The award was presented to Prof. Mengüç at the ceremony held at METU on May 14, 2025.

 

Founded in 1981, the Parlar Foundation aims to strengthen the ties between the university and the industry, promote scientific research and researchers, provide technical equipment and resources to METU, offer scholarships and loans to students, and facilitate mentoring services. The foundation annually presents the Honor, Science, Service, and Research and Technology Incentive Awards to recognize excellence in scientific and industrial research and to inspire further innovation among scientists. Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç shares this year’s Honor Award with the late Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, a renowned Hittitologist and author who passed away in November 2024. Previous recipients of the Honor Award include esteemed scientists such as Prof. Cahit Arf, Prof. Feza Gürsey, Prof. Halil İnalcık, and Prof. Mehmet Ali Alpar.

Prof. M. Pinar Menguc awarded with Michael I. Mishchenko Medal!

Elsevier JQSRT (Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer) Editorial Board awarded the 2023 Michael I. Mishchenko Medal to Prof. M. Pinar Menguc. The Michael I.
